Cult of the Lamb casts players in the role of a possessed lamb saved from annihilation by an ominous stranger and must repay their debt by building a loyal following in his name. The expansion introduces new rewards, including Passive Tree Tattoos and Omens, as well as the return of the Forbidden Sanctum expansion content. Each match allows players to choose a tribe to compete against and strategically place their warriors on the battlefield to destroy enemy totems. In the expansion, players will journey to the Karui afterlife and assemble a team of warriors to take on fallen chieftains in tournaments. Meanwhile, the latest expansion for the original Path of Exile, titled Trial of the Ancestors, is set to release on August 18, 2023, for PC, Mac, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The endgame will feature over 100 maps, each with its own boss fight and modifiers. Path of Exile 2 will also include 700 base equipment types, each with its own unique item, and introduce new weapon types such as spears, crossbows, and flails. The iconic Path of Exile Passive Skill Tree will make a return, allowing players in Path of Exile 2 to dual specialize and allocate skill points into two different sets of skills. Additionally, the game will feature a revamped skill gem system with over 240 skill gems and 200 support gems for customization. Thirty-six Ascendancy class specializations will also be available. Players will be able to freely adjust their character build and utilize skills from other classes. There will be twelve starting character classes, each representing combinations of Strength, Dexterity, and Intelligence. Path of Exile 2 will introduce a new six-act main storyline with 100 distinct environments, 600 monsters, and 100 bosses. The game will feature a completely separate client and endgame content from the original Path of Exile, but cosmetic purchases made in one game will be shared between both games. Path of Exile 2, previously expected to release this year, will now launch in 2024 for PC, Mac, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The reveals included details about the latest expansion for Path of Exile, as well as new launch plans and information about Path of Exile 2. Developer Grinding Gear Games recently held its ExileCon event in Auckland, New Zealand, where it made exciting announcements for both Path of Exile and the upcoming Path of Exile 2.
